Good afternoon!

Another week is almost done, another month is done, and another has begun. As it happens, a bunch of disability-related newsletters came out on July 1, and I'm sharing three of them today. These are three that I read regularly, and highly recommend. If there's room in your head and in your email box, you should sign up for them

As for Disability Thinking Weekday, here's another reminder ...

In June and July, annual paid memberships are discounted at $40. It's a great time to support Disability Thinking Weekday. Just click the "Subscribe or Upgrade" button below to get started.

Disability Debrief at 200

Peter Torres Fremlin, Disability Debrief - July 1, 2026

"To commemorate today we'll revisit the five editions most popular with readers. Whether this is your first or 199th Debrief, welcome and thank you for joining me on this adventure of exploring the world with a disability lens."

Disability Debrief is my favorite newsletter for global disability news, culture, and opinion. This week's "best of" collection from past newsletters is well worth reading, or rereading. Happy 200th issue!

Disability Voting News: July 1, 2026

Sarah Blahovec, The Accessible Voting Booth - July 1, 2026

"The disability community has been justifiably reeling from several terrible actions from the Trump administration, including the transfer of the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation and the Office of Civil Rights from the Department of Education to Health and Human Services and the Department of Justice respectively, and Department of Justice’s pro-institutionalization opinion memo that attempts to undermine the Olmstead v. L.C. decision. With all of this terrible news to contend with, voting hasn’t been top of mind, and I have few updates this week."

This is another disability newsletter I read top to bottom pretty much every time it arrives in my email box. It focuses on voting rights and accessibility for people with disabilities – mainly but not solely in the United States. As this issue's lead-in suggests, it can be easy to forget or gloss over some of the finer points of voting rights and access, especially in the US where efforts are underway in many states to make the whole voting process more restrictive and exacting – making voting harder for people with disabilities. This newsletter is a great way to keep up on what's happening.

Opportunities

American Association of People with Disabilities - July 1, 2026

"This month, AAPD continued advancing work to build the political and economic power of disabled people across the country ... This newsletter is a roundup of timely policy updates, upcoming events, new resources, and opportunities to take action with the disability community."

This is one of the better newsletters from a disability organization. It's well laid-out, easy to read, concise, and provides helpful updates on what the American Association of People with Disabilities is doing. And because it does a lot of things across the spectrum of disability issues, catching up on AAPD's work is a pretty good way to catch up on what's happening in disability activism in the United States.
