Today we have three response to the US Senate's narrow passage of President Trump's domestic policy bill. In the "Take Action" section below, there's also an updated action alert from the [American Association of People with Disabilities](https://www.aapd.com/?ref=disability-thinking-weekday.ghost.io). I do realize that quite a few subscribers here are not from the United States. So once this bill thing is done, one way or another, I hope to spend more time on disability issues in other countries. Projections from the Congressional Budget Office for the Senate bill show 17 million people losing health insurance within 10 years, and the federal debt increasing by well over three trillion dollars. An estimated 51,000 people will die each year due to the loss of healthcare coverage caused by the bill." ## [**Act NOW to stop the worst Medicaid cuts in history**](https://autisticadvocacy.org/2025/07/act-now-to-stop-the-worst-medicaid-cuts-in-history/?ref=disability-thinking-weekday.ghost.io) Autistic Self Advocacy Network - July 1, 2025 > "It is more urgent than ever that our community pushes back and makes it clear: Medicaid cuts kill. Some Representatives who voted for the budget reconciliation bill last month do not like that the bill would make cuts to Medicaid. **The Senate version of the bill makes even worse cuts** than the version that the House voted on last month! Representatives must vote NO on any budget reconciliation bill that includes cuts to Medicaid. **Now is the time to call and call again**, no matter how your member of Congress voted on last month’s House bill.. After you call, tell your friends and family to do the same. Share it on social media. **Our representatives work for us, and they must listen to us.** Their offices should be getting so many calls that they can’t spend time on anything but answering the phone." There's not much more to say. The nearly completed bill now goes back to the House of Representatives one more time. There's still a chance to avoid a disaster. And make no mistake, [from what I've read *outside* the disability activist community](https://www.vox.com/politics/418314/big-beautiful-bill-trump-republicans-congress?ref=disability-thinking-weekday.ghost.io), it's not just disabled people who think this bill is a disaster of historic proportions.
