7/16/26 - Newsletters Week, Part Four
Good afternoon!
I hope you all have enjoyed this week's focus on other disability newsletters and websites. It was helpful to me to put it together. My weekly reading list has gotten longer, and for now, that's okay with me. Maybe in a month or two I'll devote a week to highlighting disability podcasts and video blogs.
Tomorrow, I'll be attempting to share an Instagram video, something I've never tried before. I hope you will all be able to see it easily.

Unpacking Disability with Meriah Nichols
Meriah Nichols
"This space has grown and evolved since it began in 2007, but its heart remains the same: exploring what “disability” really means. From disability identity and culture to parenting, justice, and navigating the world as a disabled person—Unpacking Disability is a space for reflection, learning, and connection."
Meriah is one of my oldest disability internet friends. I have always valued her personal perspective on things – especially her thoughts as a woman with disabilities who is also the mother of a child with disabilities. I haven't shared a link from her site in some time. But it's where I found out about the Down syndrome video I shared last Friday, which reminds me that I really should visit Meriah's site more often.
Words I Wheel By
Emily Ladau
"All of my activism is driven by my belief that by sharing our stories and making the disability experience accessible to the world, we can reach a world that’s accessible to the disability community."
Emily is another old friend who I internet-met more than ten, and maybe as many as 15 years ago. I have always gleaned a lot from her long-running blog/newsletter. Her book, Demystifying Disability, is still one of the best introductions to disability issues available. And The Accessible Stall, her audio podcast with Kyle Khachadurian, is terrific. Emily's thinking on disability issues, culture, and communication are always interesting and helpful.
The Accessible Link
Christiane Link
"The Accessible Link connects customer experience with accessibility in transport, aviation, and railway."
There are several good newsletters on traveling with disabilities. This one has a slightly more practical focus on the more technical side of making transportation accessible, and on both on recreational travel and local transit. Christine's newsletter is also another important source for me on disability life in the UK.
