My Reaction to The Pitt: Support vs. Control in Disability (Guardianship, Consent & Healthcare)
CP Life - March 22, 2026
I just recently became a fan of The Pitt, and noticed pretty much right away that the show includes some interesting depictions of disability. In this video, a woman with Cerebral Palsy, Anna Montaldo, breaks down one of the second season storylines, involving autism, sexuality, autonomy, and the limits of a caregiver's legal powers and interpersonal boundaries. I especially like Anna's discussion of "Supported Decision Making," a model of developmental disability services that allows much more freedom than traditional models, with carefully applied guidance and assistance to make it work. I am also excited to have found Anna's channel, CP Life. I look forward to exploring and maybe sharing more of her content.
Have an excellent weekend!
