## **Tyrion Gives Bran A Gift**

Nineteen1900Hundred, YouTube - May 1, 2012

Spoilers ahead, I guess ...

It feels a bit silly to still be obsessed with a TV character from a show that ended almost six years ago – not to mention sharing a clip from an episode that first aired 14 years ago. But Tyrion Lannister from [*Game Of Thrones*](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0944947/?ref=disability-thinking-weekday.ghost.io) is still my favorite disabled TV character. I haven't read the books, so I don't know if he would be my favorite disabled literary character.

This is one of the first scenes in the show that suggested Tyrion might have some relevant things to say about the disability experience – not just about himself, but also how he thought about other people's disabilities and connection with them. There are other characters with disabilities in *Game Of Thrones*, too. Brandon Stark of course is in this clip, as is his servant Hodor. But there's also Tyrion's brother, Jamie Lannister, who becomes disabled later on and has to adapt. And stretching the definition of disability just a bit, there's arguably Jojen Reed, who has some kind of psychic epilepsy, and The Hound, Sandor Clegane, with his severely scarred face and what seems a lot like post-traumatic stress disorder. Of all the reasons to watch *Game Of Thrones*, one of the most surprising but valid is to enjoy it's rich and meaningful disability representation.

Have an amazing weekend!
