Trump's War on Medicaid Will Institutionalize Millions of People
Julia Metreaux, Mother Jones - February 20, 2025
Medicaid is important to disabled Americans for many reasons. One of the most specific and profound is that Medicaid is basically the only funding mechanism – public or private – that consistently pays for long-term home care and other services that make it possible for significantly disabled people to live in their own homes and avoid being "placed" in a nursing home or other institution. It's never been more important for disabled people in the U.S. to understand and get a grip on these detailed relationships – and around the world too maybe for those interested in continuing the move away from institutionalization as a way of "taking care of" disabled people.
Have an amazing weekend!
