“Judith Heumann’s Fight for Disability Rights (feat. Ali Stroker)"

YouTube, Drunk History - March 25, 2020

It's been a frightening week for a lot of people, including people with disabilities. Today would probably be a day to share links related to President Trump's baseless and disgusting comments about the midair crash between an airliner and an Army helicopter at Washington, DC's Reagan National Airport. But I'm going to share a Friday video as usual today. It's not timely at all – except that in an indirect way this seems like a good time both for some levity and a reminder of one of the key moments in U.S. disability history. I would only add one observation. This week especially, it seems like we are well and truly past the point where disabled people's greatest obstacle is people's condescension, as depicted n this video. We have clearly slipped back into a new era of open hostility instead.

Have an excellent weekend, if at all possible!
