# Gaelynn Lea: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

NPR Music - March 11, 2016

The other day, a friend sent me a text message with a link, letting me know that disabled musician and activist Gaelynn Lea had shared a link on her Facebook page to this recent [Disability Thinking Weekday newsletter focused on the L.A. fires](https://disability-thinking-weekday.ghost.io/1-13-25-l-a-fires/). I've never met Gaelynn in person, though we are connected in the most basic social media ways – and she is a subscriber here.

I don't work too hard at hunting social media "clout," or "street cred" in disability culture. But I'm not completely indifferent to those things. And I do appreciate the bit of a boost I think Gaelynn gave to this newsletter. And thinking about her music, I realized that I had never actually watched her "Tiny Desk Concert" video, which is still probably her most famous performance. I've watched it now, and of course it's amazing. The distinctive format I think works really well for Gaelynn and her music. So in case you haven't seen and heard her, here's a must-see video showing Gaelynn Lea at her best.

Have a terrific weekend!
